The fire..

..left just a thick coat of ash blocking all light that filtered through the house...choking thick smoke lingered about..We stood in the hallway awestruck and breathing fresh smoke..

we scrubbed clean my mother's beautiful house..we let water run on the floors..after a while we starting going crazy ..making pictures on the walls..shoving ash in each others' faces..coughing until we'd wheeze..and then a smile would break across my mother's face...

I just wish I was there earlier..
